About Me
I’m Jacklyn Paul, a proud Mi’kmaw social worker, consultant, and advocate for decolonization and trauma-informed change. I come from a lineage shaped by both resilience and colonial impact—my mother attended residential school, and I am a descendant of that legacy. These experiences are not just part of my personal story; they shape the way I approach my work, my relationships, and my vision for systemic change.
With a background in clinical social work, mental health, addictions, and trauma-informed care, I’ve spent years working directly with individuals, families, and organizations to navigate the impacts of intergenerational trauma and systemic barriers. But my passion extends beyond frontline work, I believe true healing and reconciliation happen when systems change. That belief led me to create Militaw Consulting, a space where organizations can learn, unlearn, and take real steps toward decolonization, inclusion, and meaningful allyship with Indigenous communities.
My approach is honest, relational, and grounded in Two-Eyed Seeing—blending Indigenous ways of knowing with Western approaches to create strategies that are both effective and culturally rooted. I believe that decolonization isn’t just about policy shifts—it’s about understanding the lived realities of Indigenous peoples, making space for hard conversations, and committing to action that leads to real, lasting change.
